The start of a new season is exciting as it means getting to source what’s available out there and pinpointing the key purchases you need to add to your wardrobe. Autumn can be a tricky time of year as we need to be prepared for both cool and warm days …factor in the benefits of layering! It’s also a nice transition into being able to wear beautiful woolen knits and deeper, richer colours.

Key colours for Autumn: Think fuchsia, lavender, military greens, metallic shines, reds and midnight blues – so step aside your monochromatic palette and try some unpredictable brights!

Romantic Ruffles

Try a little frill this season with ruffles emerging as the major trend. You will see it on everything from dresses to shirts to shoes and bags. It’s a very feminine look so compliment it with some tougher more structured pieces. Think jeans with a ruffled shirt or a structured jacket with a white tee & frilled skirt. Layer a frilled dress over knee-high boots or add heavy, dark accessories.

Velvet

Very popular for the northern hemisphere winter & you’ll want to wear this fabric once the cooler weather hits. A little unsure maybe try a pop of velvet in your accessories, shoes or handbag there are so many options to try.

Hard Details

Look for details like heavy lace, studs, spikes, leather and pierced details.

The Logo Tee

Also very big this season is the slogan T-shirt. Seen on runways from New York to Paris, the wordy tees are everywhere. The simple tee has been the designer purchase to instantly make your outfit right on trend. It’s not only Gucci that are doing the land of the logo tee Marc Jacobs to Givenchy have released their versions as well.

Patent Hi-Shine

Keep on trend with patent leather, from shoes to pants to skirts and coats. The key is to ensure your patent piece is the “hero” of your outfit. A little scared? Dip your toe into this trend with shoes and go from there!

80s Style

It’s back……remember pops of neon, exaggerated shoulders and body-con shapes. It’s all about ‘80s shapes, in luxe fabrics.

Mega Statement Earrings

The big bold statement earring is right on trend. For an edgier route try one single, sculptural dangler and a stud on the other. The most important element is confidence. Wallflowers need not apply!
